a spur of the moment decision...

the wife and I started out fishing on good Friday 2011. we ended up catching 5 bream between us. 3 good sized and 2 little ones. we threw em all back but we enjoyed the morning out in the sun with our feet in the water at Grays point. we are lucky that we both love the water so much.

after a gruelling session of fishing... hauling in the monsters... we were unsure of what to do... it was either go to the Easter show, drive up the Blue Mountains or go into Darling Harbour for a wander...

after cleaning up the gear, driving home and having a shower... we decided to go to Darling Harbour...

while in there we stumbled across the Maritime Museum which was offering tours on the Destroyer HMAS Vampire and the submarine Onslow. we couldn't say no...

we spent the next 2 hours going all over both vessels trying to get an idea on how life was for all the people on board...

HMAS Vampire was an amazing sight... the big deck guns... the galley... sleeping quarters... control room...

The wife even jumped in the captains chair and pretended to.... AAARRRGGGHHHH..... (no...not a pirate ship sweetie)

the control room was a sight... so many buttons and controls

after a good look at the destroyer we went aboard the submarine ONSLOW.

it was so tight and cramped in there and I must say we both felt a little claustrophobic...

we felt very sorry for anyone who may have had to spend lengthy time on board...

then we went into the museum itself and had a good look at memories of the past and recorded accomplishments that make up Australia's history...

it ended up being one of the most interesting and enjoyable days we have had in a while...

just goes to show that a spur of the moment decision can turn out to be great...
